Apiary Inspectors Training 2016

DPR's Enforcement Branch sponsored an Apiary Inspectors Training on May 4, 2016 in Parlier.

Forty people attended from DPR and the University of California Cooperative Extension, plus county agricultural commissioner biologists from Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Merced, Tulare, Tuolumne and San Diego counties. Special thanks to the beekeepers who participated, and the University of California, Davis, UC Cooperative Extension, and California Department of Food and Agriculture who also sponsored this training.

DPR's Enforcement Branch sponsored an Apiary Inspectors Training on May 11, 2016 in Modesto.

Forty-six people attended the training, including employees from the DPR and University of California Cooperative Extension, plus County Agricultural Commissioner biologists from Merced, Monterey, Plumas-Sierra, San Diego, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Stanislaus, Tehama and Tuolumne counties.

The event was made possible by Orin Johnson, of Orin Johnson Apiaries, who also delivered the hive drops, Troy Bunch, of Bunch Apiaries, Gene Brandi, of Gene Brandi Apiaries, and Larry Lima, senior biologist with the Merced County Agricultural Commissioner's Office.

Johnson, Bunch and Brandi helped at the 2014 training event as well. All three have served as presidents of the California State Beekeepers Association.

Brandi is currently the President of the American Beekeeping Federation.

UC Davis, UC Cooperative Extension, and the California Department of Food and Agriculture also sponsored the training.
