New Supervising Pesticide Use Specialist at the Department of Pesticide Regulation’s Southern Regional Office

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Jahan Motakef as the new Supervising Pesticide Use Specialist for the Southern Regional Office. Jahan’s starting date was April 1, 2002.

Jahan brings extensive field experience to this position. Jahan graduated from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering. Jahan started to work for the Department of Pesticide Regulation in 1992.

In 1994 Jahan was promoted to Senior Pesticide Use Specialist and worked in that position for eight years. He has worked as Senior Liaison and Senior Evaluator for several years. Jahan also served in different workgroups and was active in Effectiveness Evaluation, County Compliance Assessment, and Training teams.

During the past two years, Jahan assisted Mr. Jim Shattuck, Agricultural Program Supervisor II, with training of new staff as well as providing leadership to the Southern Regional Office staff. His excellent customer service record as a Senior Pesticide Use Specialist is exemplary.

I am confident that Jahan’s valuable experience in different programs will serve him well as the Southern Regional Office’s Supervising Pesticide Use Specialist.
