San Joaquin Valley – Pilot Pesticide Mini-Bulk Container Collection Event

For your information, attached is a news release announcing a pilot pesticide mini-bulk container collection event to be held in the San Joaquin Valley on January 27 and 28, 2011

The collection event will involve the collection of one-way or obsolete, high -density polyethylene (HDPE) mini-bulk or intermediate bulk (IBC) pesticide containers that are not currently being used or that may not meet the new requirements of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) that goes into effect August 16, 2011.

The collection event is designed to collect obsolete and/or orphaned HDPE and IBC containers in an eight county area in the San Joaquin Valley that include the counties of San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced, Madera, Fresno, Tulare, Kern and Kings.

Myers Container, LLC/Container Management Services, LLC (Myers/CMS) has been selected by U.S. EPA in collaboration with the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) and the Western Plant Health Association (WPHA) to conduct a pilot pesticide container collection event in the San Joaquin Valley.

The pilot pesticide container collection event will be held in Fresno, California on the 27 and 28 of January, 2011. To participate in the collection event, participants must first fill out a Mini-Bulk Recycling Pilot Project registration form.
