2011 Structural Regulatory Training

The Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) and the Structural Pest Control Board (SPCB) will be conducting Structural Regulatory Training this year in two locations.

Southern California: May 24-26 (Tuesday through Thursday)

Begin each day at this location; there will be travel on Day 1 & 2 to off-site demo locations

Day 1: 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Day 2: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Day 3: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Northern California: June 7-9 (Tuesday through Thursday)

Day 2: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Day 3: 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Format / Agenda

This year’s format includes Basic and Advanced tracks running concurrently for two days – Tuesday and Wednesday. A general session for all attendees will be held on Thursday. Attendees are to register for and attend only one of the concurrent tracks. The proposed agenda is attached.

Registration

Reservations for training participants should be made by completing the attached reservation form and emailing it to Kathy.Boyle@cdpr.ca.gov by May 13, 2011. This form includes requests for hotel room reservations.

Traffic congestion and personal time commitments are recognized, but for the sake of others, participants are asked to stay the entire day.

Parking:

Southern California:

Kellogg West Conference Center and Lodge: Parking stickers are required before parking vehicle. Drive to the Conference Center entrance to obtain parking sticker. Campus police frequently monitor the parking lot; no exceptions allowed for not having parking sticker. DPR can not reimburse participants for parking fines. No parking sticker is needed at the demonstration site.

Northern California:

Parking is free; no sticker is needed at either the hotel or the demonstration site.

Meals:

Participants to either location should allow sufficient time on Tuesday to eat lunch prior to start of training. Breakfast & lunch will be provided at both locations to all attendees (including commuters) on Wednesday and Thursday to expedite training. Meals not provided as part of training will be reimbursed by DPR as allowed by the State Administrative Manual.

Lodging:

Only participants who live and work at least 50 miles from the training location are eligible for hotel lodging. Hotel reservations, room charges and taxes will be paid directly by DPR for eligible participants. A credit card authorization will be taken from each participant at room check-in to guarantee any supplemental charges accrued to the room.

Note: DPR staff will coordinate room reservations with the hotel. Please do not call either hotel directly.

EXPENSE REIMBURSEMENT: Instructions will be provided at training.

Claims will be paid for the following expenses as allowed by the State Administrative Manual.

  1. Mileage for personal or county vehicles (at $0.51 per mile)
  2. Meals incurred arriving for the training event
  3. Meals during the event not provided by DPR.

Participants will be personally liable for, and DPR will not reimburse, supplemental charges for in-room services such as pay TV/video, internet services, bottled water, or room service.

  1. Pesticide Use Enforcement Program Standards Compendium:
    1. Volume 2, Laws & Regulations (for Basic & Advanced tracks)
    2. Volume 4, Inspection Procedures (for Basic track)
  2. 2010 Structural Act (for Basic & Advanced tracks)
    • Participants will be referring to Act; please bring copies already provided to CACs; or indicate alongside participant’s name on registration form if a copy of Act is needed.
  3. Clipboard (for Basic & Advanced tracks)

Consider temperature, wind and sun when packing/dressing for the training.
