Furadan 5G–Use of Existing Stocks on Rice
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) has approved the use of existing stocks of granular carbofuran (Furadan 5G) on rice in California for 2000 (letter attached) to allow for a reasonable transition to the carbofuran alternatives, Warrior and Dimilin. U.S. EPA has granted FMC an amendment to their registration (EPA Registration No. CA-97000500) to allow the use through August 31, 2000, of the Furadan 5G end-use product currently in the hands of growers and dealers.
To implement the terms and conditions of the letter, U.S. EPA has given the Department of Pesticide Regulation “enforcement discretion” to allow the use of Furadan 5G as long as the user has, at the use site, the new Section 24(c) supplemental labeling bearing the statements, “For use in California only. Not for use after August 31, 2000.”
