Revision of PML 2003-05, Mosquito Control – Licensing and Certification Requirements for Public and Private Entities

The enclosed publication Mosquito Control by Public and Private Entities in California Questions and Answers was revised with assistance from the Department of Health Services, Vector-Borne Disease Section , the Department of Consumer Affairs’ Structural Pest Control Board, and the Department of Pesticide Regulation’s Pesticide Enforcement Branch.

This revision allows structural pest control businesses with Branch 2 – General Pest licenses to control mosquitoes outdoors in the immediate environment of a residential structure. Mosquito control performed outside the immediate environment of a residential structure or under contract to a vector control agency or other governmental agency requires a Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) Pest Control Business license with the health-related “K” category.

The Department of Health Services, Vector-borne Disease Section, will distribute this revised information to anyone interested and is also posted DPR’s Web site at www.cdpr.ca.gov/docs/county/cacltrs/pmlltrs/pml2003/2003atch/attach05.pdf.

If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Mac Takeda, of my staff, at (916) 445-3838 or mtakeda@cdpr.ca.gov.
