Structural Pesticide Use Report (PUR) Policy – Total Number of Applications on Monthly Summary
Structural pest control companies are required to submit a monthly summary pesticide use report (PUR) for applications of registered pesticides to the County Agricultural Commissioner in the county in which the work is performed.
On January 1, 2015, Senate Bill 1244 (Chapter 560, Statutes of 2014) became effective. It amended section 8505.17(c) of the Business and Professions Code (BPC) to eliminate the requirement that monthly summary structural PUR’s include the number of applications made. These reports now only have to contain the name and registration number of each pesticide and the amount used. Some confusion was generated regarding the applicability of Title 3, California Code of Regulations section 6627 which also contains requirements for structural pest control businesses.
Until section 6627 can be amended, DPR’s policy, effective October 1, 2016, is to no longer require the total number of applications made for each registered pesticide to be reported on the structural monthly summary PUR. This requirement is in accordance with the recently amended BPC section 8505.17(c) and supersedes previous instructions in ENF 12-18 and any other previous guidance which stated that the number of applications of structural use pesticides needed to be reported.
Instructions in the DPR Compendium guidance volumes will be revised accordingly.
If you have any questions please contact the Enforcement Branch Liaison assigned to your county.
Sincerely,
