Updated Handler Training Templates
This letter announces updates to the employee pesticide handler safety training templates which can be used by employers to train employees who handle pesticides. Employers are required to train employees handling pesticides on pesticide safety pursuant to Title 3, California Code of Regulations (3 CCR) section 6724.
The previous update to DPR’s handler training templates was in ENF letter 2018-20.
The updated templates are a result of recent regulation changes for certification and training of pesticide applicators in 3 CCR Division 6, which become effective on January 1, 2024. The changes align California’s applicator certification program with federal regulations found in Title 40, Code of Federal Regulations Part 171.
We are providing the suggested templates in both MS Word and pdf formats in English and Spanish. Please provide them to your growers and businesses as a reference to train employees. The revised templates will also be available on DPR’s website.
If you have any questions, please contact the Enforcement Branch Liaison assigned to your county.
Sincerely,
