This letter announces the availability of and summarizes updates to Pesticide Use Enforcement Program Standards Compendium Volume 3, Restricted Materials and Permitting, Appendix J 1,3 Dichloropropene (Field Fumigation) Recommended Permit Conditions and Regulations Guidance.

The updates to Appendix J are:

  • Page J-5: Revised to state TIF tarps must not be perforated until 10 days after the application is complete.
  • Pages J-8 and J-10: In Tables 1 and 2, added the new interim tree hole field fumigation method (FFM) description, code, allowances, and application factors. Removed “or Bed” from FFM 1206.
  • Pages J-11 to J-12: Added Interim Recommended Permit Conditions for the recently approved Nontarpaulin / Tree-hole Fumigation Method (FFM 1230).

Consistent with Executive Letter 24-01, do not issue a permit for a 1,3-D tree hole soil fumigation method until after September 3, 2024.

To print the revised portions of the manual, select from the enclosures or go to Pesticide Use Enforcement Program Standards Compendium Volume 3, Restricted Materials and Permitting. It is recommended the pages be printed back-to-back, where applicable.
