Agricultural Pest Control Advisory Committee (APCAC) Charter
The mission of the Agricultural Pest Control Advisory Committee (APCAC) is to advise the Director of the Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) on its licensing and certification, educational requirements, study materials, and examinations, to ensure that pest control is safely performed by competent and responsible individuals and businesses licensed or certified pursuant to Division 6 – Pest Control Operations, of the Food and Agricultural Code.
The role of the Agricultural Pest Control Advisory Committee is to:
- Identify needs of licensees and certificate holders
- Educational requirements
- Educational requirements for admittance
- Continuing education requirements
- Training requirements
- Study materials
- Educational requirements
- Advise on the direction of the Licensing and Certification Program
- Identify areas/issues for DPR to investigate ways to reduce regulatory burdens on its licensees and certificate holders, while maintaining public safety and environmental protection
- Identify ways to reduce noncompliances regarding pesticide usage by individuals
- Explore ways to make the Licensing and Certification Program more effective and efficient
- Identify the type of education, communication, and interpretation materials that will assist in getting better compliance in the field
- Provide input and recommendations on proposed legislation, regulation, and policies that impact licensees and certificate holders
- Members shall provide feedback from their represented group to the committee, and DPR will reciprocate
- Continue its statutory role under FAC Section 12042
The Agricultural Pest Control Advisory Committee should meet on an as-needed basis, generally no more than four times per year.
