Back to 2000 Enforcement Branch Letters
September 12, 2000
ENF 2000-033
TO: County Agricultural Commissioners
SUBJECT: METHYL BROMIDE--STRUCTURAL FUMIGATIONS/INFORMATION MAPPING®
The attached communication is in a new format called Information Mapping®. We are considering using this format more widely in our communications with you. If we move to the Information Mapping® format, we would anticipate omitting cover letters, such as this letter you are reading. We would like to hear your impression of this way of presenting information and policy.
Information Mapping® is a research-based method that focuses on the analysis, organization, and visual presentation of written information. This method focuses on the readers' needs--analyzing and organizing information, using graphic devices to better visually present information, and using a standardized approach to writing documents. Written documents are reader friendly; readers can quickly read through information, understand the information better, and more easily retrieve information.
The goal of Information Mapping® is to present written documents that:
- Are easy to read and understand;
- Make it easy for the reader to find the key information;
- Help your organization improve productivity and improve its decision-making capability.
If you have any comments or questions about this format, please contact Mr. Roy Hirose by telephone at (916) 445-4017, or by e-mail at (rhirose@cdpr.ca.gov).
Sincerely,
