California Pesticide Electronic Submission Tracking (CalPEST) System Development

Notice Number: 2022-01
Date: January 10, 2022

The Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) is very pleased to announce we have awarded a contract to a systems integration vendor to develop our California Pesticide Electronic Submission Tracking (CalPEST) system. In coordination with the California Department of Technology, DPR conducted a competitive procurement, known as “Challenge-Based Procurement.” After a successful evaluation process, DPR awarded the contract to MERP Systems, Inc. of Herndon, Virginia on January 7, 2022. The CalPEST system, once developed, will take the place of the current paper-based pesticide registration process and allow for new products, amendments to currently registered products, and renewals to be submitted, processed, and accepted electronically. Preparatory system development efforts have begun, with the partial implementation expected at the end of 2022 and full system implementation expected in fall 2024.
