The Department of Pesticide Regulation has primary authority to enforce federal and state laws pertaining to the proper and safe use of pesticides. DPR's enforcement in the field is largely carried out in California's 58 counties by County Agricultural Commissioners (CACs) and their staffs. Together, this is approximately 400 inspector/biologists. DPR's headquarters personnel — as well as field staff located in Anaheim, Fresno, and West Sacramento — provide training, coordination, technical, and legal support to the counties.
